Again when I scrolling some games in Google Play, I stumbled across a endless running game. Seems like I ended finding tons of endless running game lately. It’s getting cliche, huh? Anyway today’s about a shoot em’ all game called Vikings An Archer’s Journey by PINPIN TEAM. It’s a free game but has some in game purchases especially for no-ads upgrade. So, without further intro, let’s jump right in to the reviewing.
Interesting Tension In Vikings An Archer’s Journey
First time playing Vikings An Archer’s Journey, my first thought was ‘What the hell??’ The tempo is very vast since the aiming might be too hard for first timer. Your main weapon is bow and arrows and you have to aim it manually. You can do the aiming by pulling to the opposite direction of your target and let it go. Power (distance) depends on how far you pull the line away. The main tension is the running speed since you sometimes face 5 enemies or more in one screen.
You don’t really to kill them all but most of times they block your way through. Main problem is, if you touch the enemies, it’s game over already. You have one advantage which is you only need 1 shot to kill (if it hits) except for some gigantic bosses. These bosses spawn only once in a several minutes of playing, so don’t really worry. Oh, except for enemies wielding shield like the one in picture above.
The Game’s Details And Power ups
At the beginning of Vikings An Archer’s Quest you’ll notice that you have several characters to play with. At the beginning you only get 1, though. Each vikings also have their specialty and drawbacks so just choose who’s the best for you.
Now, to get each characters, you need to level up and it’s by doing the side missions. Each completed mission grants you one level up, so, yeay! The missions usually need you to do some specific kinds of shots like
- Close shot
- Long shot
- Reverse shot
- Jump shot
While combining some of those kind can also be counted as succeed.
Talking about some power ups, you can get some along the way.
They’re like slowing down time so you can get better aim, 3 way arrows, explosive TNT shots, and some others. I guaranteed they could be very useful if you aim for a long journey.
Well, overall I like this game since I do love shooter game. Especially the one which have manual physics-based aiming system. The balancing is pretty good with the one hit kill for both sides and makes you learn more how to shoot arrows effectively.
