Hellooooooo, it’s really been a while since the last time I posted something. I’ve been busy with stuffs and I needed to adapt to them. Here I am now, back in my little world of foodie. Sadly, I’ve decided to focus on food until indefinite time and I have to reschedule my posts. Well, anyway, today I’m going to talk about a new kind of snack (for me, though). It’s called Tahu Walik Om Ta (Uncle Ta’s Reversed Tofu, well that’s strange). Me having this snack started when my friends was craving for some of tahu walik. Since it’s brand new to me, I decided to try as well. So, without further ado, let’s dive in to the tofu!
Tahu Walik Om Ta Is Really Reversed, Literally!
I’m gonna show you a picture to tell you about that ‘reversed’ part.
So those were basically blocks of fried tofu which were cut open in the middle and were turned inside out. Indonesian tofu here has silky and stringy inside texture and that becomes the outer part. They’re deep fried after being turned out inside out therefore creating crunchy and crispy texture from that inside part. Here in Tahu Walik Om Ta, they gave fishcake filling as well. The fishcake wasn’t the best I’ve tried so far, though (personal preference). It’s quite salty and still had small chunks of fish bones inside. Well, I couldn’t stand that for too long. The texture was pretty unique since it’s very crispy on the outside but chewy on the inside due to the fishcake. You also got some sweet chili sauce but I only tried a dip.
For a piece of that Tahu Walik Om Ta, you can get it for IDR 1k. It’s a very reasonable price though. You can even buy a single piece if you want to, so quantity-wise it’s very loose and that’s awesome.
Well, I guess that’s for now, don’t forget to check out my blog for foodie references, leave me some comments down below, follow my IG @bitethefood, and see you next time!
CHEERS AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!!
