Another game I found that turned out to be one of the best one is coming. It’s a sports game and TBH I rarely play or review any sports games. In fact, this one could be my all time favorite. So, it’s a fencing game with the title FIE Swordplay by FIE. FIE itself is like international fencing federation so yeah, obviously it’s a fencing game, a quite realistic one if I may say. (Was the federation really make this game? Good job!) I don’t know anything about fencing at all but somehow just by playing this game, I could learn some stuffs.
FIE Swordplay’s Realistic Graphics And Design
The best thing playing FIE Swordplay is enjoying the nuance. As I’ve mentioned at the title, the graphics is pretty realistic along with the move sets.
Not only the intriguing graphics, you’re also able to customize your fencer. Every equipment bears different status and plus points. You’ll be able to set the color of the equipment as well (but not the weapon). This is quite unfortunate though, since if you like a certain equipment design but they have pretty low parameters, you’re less likely to choose that set. However, I really love the weapon designs, they’re very realistic and I wonder if fencing universe really have that weapons for real.
Talking About The Duel Itself..
Now, we’re in my favorite part, the mighty duel! I believe in this game they use the real rules of fencing. There are several types of duel in this game like sudden death, 5 points, and some more. The main point of interest is inside the duel itself, how we control our fencer.
It’s a solo game so you won’t be facing another player in real time, I guess. At the duel ground, you’ll gain control your fencer which is on the left. Two buttons at the bottom left for moving left and right and three buttons for skills at bottom right. At the top there’ll be a focus bar that fills up automatically and (quicker) if you block attacks. If it fills up at certain threshold, you can do one of the following : ignore block attack or always block but only once and the bar will reset. It’s a handy feature especially if your enemy use surprise attack and you couldn’t react in time.
To win the match you should focus on looking for chances to strike. Even that chance sometimes still have loopholes for your opponent to parry or counter or do preemptive strike. Make sure to use the most suitable technique for your style to accommodate easy scoring and quick defense. There are lots of fencing style to pick. Sometimes striking first isn’t a smart option because if your opponent counter and strike back instantly, you’re pretty much losing 1 point. You can do retreat, riposte, parry, block, lunge, and many more fencing technique based on the corresponding style.
So far I love playing FIE Swordplay because of its amazing graphics and striking gameplay. I love sword fight (sports) as well as marksmanship so I really enjoy playing this game. Mentioning the appearance and fencing style customization, this game offers more engaging experience as one hell of a sport game. I recommend this game for you to explore.
