Crock pot baked apples are delicious and my family loves these apples. We make them all the time. They are so good over ice cream or about any kind of cake. These apples are wonderful for breakfast on a hot biscuit slathered with butter and they make a delicious side dish for any meal or holiday table. They keep well for several days refrigerated and can be reheated on the stove or in the microwave. You could easily double this recipe for a crowd.
Crock pot baked apples make a great dish to take to any gathering.
6 large apples peeled, cored and sliced (I like to use Golden Delicious)
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup orange juice (We love these with orange juice but can use water or apple juice)
Peel, core and slice the apples into a mixing bowl. Whisk the sugar, cornstarch, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, vanilla extract, butter and orange juice together. Toss the apple pieces in the mixture and add apples to a 3 quart crock pot. Cook on low for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until apples are soft when pricked with a fork. Makes about 6 servings. Enjoy!
